Laboratory focuses on:

   Prof. Karabasoglu establishes Laboratory for Intelligent Vehicles and Energy Systems (LIVES) at JIE: A new laboratory has been established by JIE Professor Orkun Karabasoglu to focus on solving the design, control, and optimization problems of electric vehicles and battery systems. Laboratory focuses on (1) Electric vehicle technology, (2) Battery management systems, (3) Transportation systems, and (4) Power systems. The mission of LIVES is to change lives with intelligent, clean and affordable technology.


   LIVES is funded by JIE, JRI and industry partners. Foundation of LIVES is well aligned with the goals of JIE to position itself as a world leader in energy and electric transportation research as well as technology transfer to the industry. LIVES is equipped with 6-DOF virtual vehicle simulator, multiple connected electric vehicles, 5V5A battery cell, 50V50A battery cell, 80V50A module test stations, temperature and humidity control chamber, mixed signal oscilloscope, power supplies, battery simulator and all the basic electronics laboratory requirements. The lab space of LIVES is setup in a stylish and innovative approach to provide a productive and world-class research environment for students and faculty. LIVES welcomes new applications from exceptionally talented candidates for Ph.D. and postdoctoral positions.
